Some fashion trends are must-haves and some, to be quite frank about it, are not. However, this spring the majority of the fashionable clothing trends which you can see already are ones that you are probably not going to want to miss out on.
In terms of colour, orange appears to be everywhere. From the humble pair of jeans to chic party frocks, orange has been used extensively by designers of haute couture and high street labels this year. If you don’t have an orange outfit in your wardrobe, then now is the time to get one. And don’t forget to accessorise. Burnt orange handbags and shoes are going to be all the rage, too.
Jeans have always been in vogue for both men and women and there are few of us who don’t own at least one pair. This spring, the look will be for skinny jeans which is not great news for all of us, depending on our figures. Nevertheless, denims these days have a much better textured look then they ever used to, so shop around wisely for the most flattering pair that you can find. Hipster jeans will be on-trend and again this is not a look that will suit everyone, either. Blue jeans with the knee slashed are going to make a return to the high street, as well. It is like the mid 1980s all over again.
Sportswear comes in and out of high street fashion. Thankfully, the trend for jogging bottoms that are teamed up with strappy-tops seems to be well behind us now. Nevertheless, the current vogue for yoga classes has led to a mini-revival of sportswear in fashion. Figure hugging yoga pants are the go-to fashion option for many a trendy girl about town. To get the look, match your yoga bottoms - which can come in a huge variety of designs - with simple gym tops. Industry insiders are already predicting that yoga outfits are going to be with us for some time to come.
Silverware is likely to be another new trend that we can expect to get stronger and stronger as 2014 progresses. After last year’s vogue for titanium, the more timeless appeal of silver is going to make welcome return. Silver necklaces, bracelets and earrings are all likely to be seen on Hollywood A-listers and European celebrities. Check out Louis Vuitton’s current range of high jewellery to get an idea of where other designers’ collections are going to follow in the coming months.
When it comes to footwear, there are some must-have shoe trends that no self-respecting fahionista should be ignoring. At last autumn’s New York fashion week, there was a very discernable trend for knee-length and thigh-length boots and this is something that British fashion buyers have been focussing on for the upcoming season. Expect high street retailers to be stocking up on higher–than-average length boots in both black and brown. Most of the boots are going to have a raised heel, too so they are not for the faint-hearted. Whichever fashion trend you pick up, make sure you enjoy the spring and – above all else – dress in style.
