Nyx is an old love of mine. I remember that my first Nyx products were 5 lipsticks that I used till the last drop. The quality of the lipsticks and of course, their good price, convinced me to try other products from Nyx and I honestly tell you, I was never disappointed. The makeup palette Caviar & Bubbles is the only makeup palette where I've actually hit the pan at more than half of the shadows. It's my to go palette and I reach for it everytime I want a quick makeup or a more natural look. In my recent trip, I came across the new Nyx Love in Paris collection and I got charmed by the palettes that this collection has to offer. Of course, I had to pick one so I decided to give Merci Beaucoup a try. If it was a good choice or not, that's for you to discover :)
Nyx Love in Paris in Merci Beaucoup is a neutral eyeshadow palette that is perfect for day & night makeup looks. It has 9 eyeshadows that are both matte and shimmery. The packaging is simple but chic at the same. The case is made out of plastic but have no fear, it's very sturdy so it won't breack that easy. I liked that the front part of the case is transparent, giving you the chance to take a better look at the shades. I find the cute little bow, that you can close the case with, an intresting detail that makes the palette look girly and chic.
When I saw this palette in the store, the shimmery shades were sparkling like diamonds and that was the main thing that made me buy it. What can I say, I'm a real sucker when it comes to shimmery eyeshadows. The eyeshadows from my Caviar & Bubbles palette are very silky and pigmented and I thought these ones would be the same. With regret I have to say that they disappointed me.
The shadows are soft but some of the shades feel a little dry and it's very hard to use them. They have a lot of fall out and the pigmentation is not their strongest point. Most of the shades need to be built up a lot so they can look exactly like in the palette. I tried to apply these shadows over different primers but the result didn't impress me so much.
For the swatches that I did below, I used a primer before I applied the shadows otherwise I could't show you the colors. All the shades are wearable and look really nice once you manage to apply them. With a primer they last around 6 hours without creasing, which is ok for me.
Have you tried the new Nyx Love In Paris palettes ? What do you think of them, yay or nay ?
