Yes, it's almost here, it's so close that you can actually feel it, Christmas is just around the corner and that means you have to get ready for everything that involves this holiday. I have to admit, I love Christmas, it's my favourite time of the year. Everything is so magical and festive and I don't even mention the lovely family gatherings, it's simply awesome!
These days, I was browsing the Internet in search for some nice Christmas gifts, when I came across a fun quiz about how Christmassy I am. The final result showed that I am 65% Christmassy, I thought it's funny, I always considered myself a 100% Christmas fan :) Since Christmas is so close, and there's so much to do in this period, I thought I'd put together a list of 5 tips on how to get ready for Christmas this year.
1. Make a gift list
It's all about giving in this time of the year and what better way to do it, if not in an organised way. I always make a list in which I include all my family members and friends and their wishes. With that in mind, I look for the best gift for each one and write it down. That way I have an idea of what to buy and for who and I don't forget anyone.
2. Don't forget about Christmas cards
If you are planning to buy Christmas cards, you don't need to hurry, but if you're planning on making something special, you need to do it before December comes. Last year, I sent personalised Christmas cards to our family. It was the first Christmas of our second daughter and I wanted to send something special. This year, I plan to do the same. I already organised a Christmas themed photoshoot for our daughters and with those pictures, I will make some nice cards for our friends and family. Don't forget to send the cards in time, you never know what delays the post office has and it's better to receive the card earlier than later.
3. Decide what Christmas tree you will get
I used to love the natural ones, the smell, the fact that you have a piece of nature inside your house, but this year I'm going for an artificial one. I consider it as an investment because I can have it many years from now on and it's not so messy as the natural one.
4. It's time to decorate
Here, your imagination is the key. I don't really have a theme for the Christmas tree, I saw very nice trees decorated with only one or maybe two colours, but that's not me. I like my tree to be cheerful and I use all kinds of decorations and lights of several colours. Since my daughter likes to create all sorts of things, she made for our tree a lot of lovely decorations that I can't wait to use. Of course, there are a lot of Christmas decor hacks that you can use to create a magical Chrismas tree.
5. Don't forget about Christmas dinner
Make a list with how many people you want to invite and with the menu that you have in mind. It will be easier for you when you'll go shopping and it will save you time. Don't forget to involve the kids in some activities, like baking some cookies or decorating some cupcakes. It will be a fun activity and they will know they helped around the house.
