Best Beauty & Skincare Products Of 2016
8 Jan 2017
Hello, my friends!
Glad that you're here with me! I hope you had nice holidays together with your loved ones and I hope that you will make the most out of 2017.
For me, the holidays went by quite fast, with a toddler running around the house all the time and wanting to know everything, it was quite hard to keep everything in place, like I like to. Now I'm back and today I will show you the beauty and skincare products that I used the most in 2016. If you follow me for a while, on my blog or Instagram, you may know most of them already. If you are new to my blog, you might want to sit down and read this post, because I'm about to show you some amazing products that are worth it! Enjoy!
Skincare - This is a domain in which I still need to figure some things out. Basically, I'm pretty simple when it comes to skincare, but also very picky and that is why I decided to show you only the products that I bought a few times and that I practically abused in the past year.
Olaz Complete Sensitive Day Cream - I use this face cream for a few years now and even if I tried other face creams I came back to it every single time. It applies like a dream, it doesn't break me out, makes my skin look super fresh and it's the perfect makeup base. If the Spf factor would have been a little higher in this one, it would be PERFECT! Even so, it's still my go to product and I plan to keep it that way in the future.
Nivea Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover - This product was a big surprise for me. I tried one time the Nivea Double Effect makeup remover and I did not like it at all, so I admit I was a bit sceptical to try this one. Luckily, it turned out to be a really great product. It's very gentle to the eyes, removes the makeup really efficient and a little goes a long way.
Ziaja Sensitive & Marine Algae Enzyme Peeling - These products literally saved my skin in 2016. Every time I had some nasty pimples or my face was looking dull, these products were there to save it. I could not pick one favourite because they are the same, the only difference is that the Marine Algae one has a very strong smell that sometimes bothered me a little, but besides that no complaints! Ziaja has a lot of skincare products at very good prices, so check them out, they're awesome!
Haircare - Here the situation is quite dramatic, I would say. I tried so many products in the last year, but none of them was good enough to make it to my favourites list. The only product that deserves the appreciation here is the L'Oreal Magic Retouch spray. Thanks to this product I don't have to dye my hair every 3 weeks like I used to do and for that, I can't be happier.
If you are like me, then you love to try out new products and see what they can do. When it comes to shower gels, I can't say no. From all the brands that I tried until now, and trust me, I tried a lot, my absolute favourite shower gels are the ones from Palmolive and Nivea. The Palmolive ones have a wide range of scents that you can choose from (I have them all, but they were too many to fit in the picture), they are budget friendly and they don't dry out your skin. I love them and I would totally recommend that you give them a try, you won't be disappointed!
The body lotion from Bath & Body Works was my body lotion I used most in 2016. I have to admit, that I don't use a body lotion all the time, I skip this step when I am too tired, but if I want to pamper myself I always reach out for this product. Leaving aside the smell, that is pure heaven, this lotion is very hydrating and leaves my skin super soft. Love it!
Trussardi My Name - This is my favourite perfume for a few years now. I really believe that its delicate and feminine smell suit me and I always reach out to it. I know that it doesn't have a strong smell that's more suitable for winter, but when you really love something, does it really matter?
L'Oreal True Match & L'Oreal Magique Cushion - were my absolute favourites in the last year! I have reviewed them on my blog, so if you want to know why I love them so much, make sure you click on the links.
Catrice Liquid Camouflage & Rimmel Match Perfection are the concealers that I used the most in 2016. They both cover up dark circles and imperfections very good and they don't look cakey after I apply powder. Lovely products!
theBalm Put A Lid On It - I really like this eye primer. It doesn't crease and it makes the eyeshadow colour more intense. Thanks to this product, the eyeshadow lasts on my eyelids the entire day without any problems.
the Balm Nude Dude - I bought this palette in the summer of 2016 and I've already hit the pan at 2 of the eyeshadows. Don't get me wrong, I love this palette and I believe it's perfect, but these 2 shades, Flirty & Festy, are awesome!
Too Faced Natural Matte & Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 - These babies are an absolute must have! You can easily create with them a soft natural look or a more dramatic one. They are so versatile, that I can use some of the shades, Cashmere Bunny & Sexspresso (Too Faced) and Primal & Undone (Urban Decay), to contour my eyebrows. The eyeshadows are pigmented, not too powdery and they have a good lasting power.
The best mascaras that I used in the past year are from Yves Rocher - Sexy Pulp, Marc Jacobs - Noir and essence - The False Lashes Mascara. Yves Rocher is an old love of mine, I use it for 3 years now and I don't intend to stop anytime soon. Marc Jacobs was a nice surprise and although I did not like it at the beginning, in time I learned how to apply it best and the results were pretty awesome. The mascara from essence is recently entered my collection but since I bought it I used it all the time. It makes my lashes super long and gives them a really nice volume.
theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer - I love this highlighter! It offers my skin a healthy glow that lasts the whole day!
essence Eye Brow Topcoat - I found this product in one of my trips to Germany and I thought that it won't be bad if I give it a try. I am glad I did because it's really a good product. It literally seals the colour on my eyebrows making it last the whole day.
Astor Colour Sensation Lip Butter - Although I have more than enough lip products, I always reached for these 2 in the past year. I love nude on my lips and these products offered me a soft colour and hydration. They were a really good buy and I totally recommend them!
The makeup brushes that I used and use the most are the blending brushes from essence, Sigma and Blanc Canvas Cosmetics. I absolutely love these brushes and I couldn't see myself without them.
The makeup sponges from Real Techniques & Ebelin were my favourites when it came to applying foundation and concealer. Both of these sponges apply the foundation flawlessly, but if I would have to pick a favourite, I would go for the Ebelin one. You can read more about it in the review that I made for it, here.
This is it friends! These are the products the impressed me the most in 2016.
