Give Up These Five Things To Stay Younger And Healthier For Longer


We all want to grow old gracefully, but sometimes it can feel a bit like the world is conspiring against us. Why is it that all the fun and tasty things actually make us age faster? It just doesn’t seem fair. But there’s no point whining, the truth of the matter is that if we want to old gracefully, we need to start treating our bodies a little bit better. All those years of sunbathing and party lifestyles can really start to take their toll, and even make us look old before our time. If you want to grow old gracefully, but preferably not right now, it might be worth considering giving up some of these six things.

Caffeine
I know it hurts, but it’s time to face up to the fact that our beloved morning cup of coffee could be making us age quicker. The problem with caffeine is that it has a diuretic effect, which dehydrates us, causing us to look dull and ages - we need water to keep our skin plump and our wrinkles lessened. The coffee even stains teeth, making them look older and less pearly white. Don’t even think of switching the energy drinks, whose sugar content could rot your teeth fast than you age. If you don’t want to give up your morning coffee, make sure you’re drinking lots of youth-giving water, and keep a good moisturizer on hand.


Sunlight
Okay, we probably shouldn’t give up sunlight altogether - we’d end up looking and acting like vampires for sure, but too much exposure to sunlight can be really bad for our skin. Skin cancer aside, over-tanning can cause our skin to become brown and leathery, and even make fine lines and wrinkles appear deeper. It even inhibits collagen production, which is the stuff under our skin keeping it plump. Make sure you always use a moisturizer with an SPF15 or above for the best protection.


Smoking
Smoking makes our teeth yellow, causes fine lines around the mouth, and is altogether not great for our health, especially as we age. Giving up smoking, and even moving to a tobacco e-liquid and electronic cigarette instead, can start to halt these aging processes, and even give your body time to recover. It’s also great for your bank balance, if you need that extra incentive to quit.


Processed foods
All those delicious sausages and bacon are full of sulfides which are meant to preserve the meat. In us, however, they can cause inflammation and accelerate aging. The high salt content makes us dehydrated, making the skin look dull, and has even been linked to heart disease. It’s best to stick to everything in moderation.


Stress and staying up late
We need sleep and relaxation to be healthy and happy. When we are stressed and tired we frown, we get dehydrated, and our body becomes less capable or caring for itself and rejuvenating old skin cells. Keeping calm and relaxed isn’t just in the best interests of your happiness, but your looks as well.


It can seem like everything is out to age us - wine, red meat, and sweets are even the enemy - so just remember to keep everything in moderation and use a great moisturizer, and you’ll avoid the worst of it.
